The department is dedicated to evaluation, diagnosis and management of speech and language disorders in pediatric as well as the adult population.
Language problems are commonly observed in both children and adults, though the causes and impact may differ. In adults, such difficulties often arise after a neurological event such as a stroke, head injury, or age-related changes in the brain, which may lead to challenges in speaking, understanding, reading, or writing. In children, language delays or deviations may occur in isolation, as in the case of Specific Language Impairment, or may be associated with other conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or Hearing Loss.
These difficulties can affect vocabulary development, sentence formation, and social communication, which in turn may have a long-term impact on learning and interaction. Early identification and timely intervention are crucial in improving communication outcomes and enhancing overall quality of life.
